Der Wolfenbutteler Codex Carolinus (Cod. Guelf. 64 Weiss.) – so benannt durch eine 1755 vorgenommene Widmung des Abtes Franz Anton Knittel an Herzog Carl I. von Braunschweig-Luneburg – uberliefert als Palimpsest unter der Enzyklopadie des Isidor von Sevilla verblichene und dann neu uberschriebene Fragmente aus Galen, aus dem griechischen Neuen und dem lateinischen Alten Testament sowie gotisch-lateinische Teile des Paulus-Briefes an die Romer. Insbesondere diese Blatter werden in kodikologisch-palaographischer, aber auch in textkritischer Hinsicht beschrieben und analysiert. Damit erfahrt die auch kulturhistorisch bedeutsame Handschrift eine neue und erstmals umfangreiche Darstellung.
