The volume originates from an interdisciplinary seminar at the Department of Protestant Theology at Goethe-University Frankfurt in summer 2018 in which students of theology and classical philology participated comparably. It focused on the intertextual and intermedial relationships of the Apocalypse to the Septuagint. The investigation was particularly interesting because no other author of the New Testament refers to the Septuagint so frequently without direct quotations. The contributions in this volume indicate in selected examples these intertextual and intermedial relationships. They also demonstrate how creatively and sometimes even playfully the seer John handles with them.
