Das mehrperiodige Graberfeld von Ense-Bremen, Kreis Soest

Die Region um Ense, gelegen im westfalischen Salzquellen-Bezirk im Kreis Soest, ist als ergiebiges Fundgebiet mit Relikten aus mehreren Epochen bekannt. Eine zentrale Stelle nimmt der in der vorliegenden Publikation behandelte Fundplatz von Ense-Bremen ein, der bereits 1961 beim Lehmabbau fur eine Ziegelei entdeckt wurde. In mehreren Grabungskampagnen in den 1960er- und 1970er-Jahren sowie in den Jahren 2004 und 2006 wurden hier zahlreiche Grabbefunde aufgedeckt. Der Autor, Stephan Deiters, war 2006 selbst als wissenschaftlicher Ausgrabungsleiter vor Ort tatig. Insgesamt konnten auf dem Graberfeld etwa 180 verschiedene Bestattungen aus unterschiedlichen Epochen von der spaten Bronzezeit bis zum fruhen Mittelalter nachgewiesen werden. Dabei handelt es sich um 132 Brandgraber, 32 Korpergraber mit zum Teil reicher Beigabenausstattung und 14 Pferdegraber (darunter ein Doppelgrab), dazu kommen noch zwolf Grabeinhegungen. Das vorliegende Buch ist keine reine Fundvorlage, sondern eine Zusammenstellung und Auswertung aller archaologischen Entdeckungen von der Fundstelle. Es ist das Ergebnis intensiver Feldarbeit, detaillierter Forschung und fundierter Analyse.
