Das Archiv des Šilwa-Teššup
Heft 6. Rechtsurkunden und Briefe
by Gernot Wilhelm
This volume continues the processing of the archive of a prince and large landowner of the 14th century BC, which was discovered in 1927/28 during American excavations near Kirkuk/Iraq. It comprises over 700 cuneiform tablets, which represent the most important sources for the internal organization of a northern Iraqi private landowner in the middle of the 2nd millennium BC. Volume 6 presents documents on a wide range of legal transactions such as adoption, loans, marriage contracts, field exchanges, trade commissions, legal disputes, slave purchases, wills and contracts for work.
