English summary: What sort of control and responsibility to we have in regards to our beliefs? How much can we decide what we believe? This question has perturbed philosophers since Antiquity, combining with Christian responsibility and faith in the Middle Ages, and faced with the problem of tolerance in modern society. This volume explores the controversy over the role of choice in belief at a time of increased interest in the subject, employing philosophical approaches developed to untangle that which depends on the believers own will, and that which does not.
