The preliminary report of these excavations contains chapters on stratigraphy and architecture, pottery, Greek pottery, the various small finds, and a Third Intermediate Period relief fragment.

The 7th and 8th seasons of excavations at the site of ancient Mendes (modern Tell el-Ruba) in the eastern central Delta took place during the summers of 1979 and 1980. Excavation revealed that the ridge chosen for excavation was probably built up by purposeful dumping of debris–of mixed Third Intermediate Period and Dynasty XXVI date–during the second half of the 6th century B.C. The preliminary report of these excavations contains chapters on stratigraphy and architecture, pottery, Greek pottery, the various small finds, and a Third Intermediate Period relief fragment.
