Enes Karic ist hervorgetreten durch zahlreiche Veroffentlichungen in bosnischer und englischer Sprache zur Koranexegese, zum Dialog der Religionen und zur Geschichte Bosniens. An der Islamisch-Theologischen Fakultat in Sarajevo begann er sein Studium, spater folgten Studienaufenthalte in Kairo, Yale und Oxford. Von 1994 bis 1996 war er Kultusminister der Republik Bosnien und Herzegowina, seit 1999 ist er ordentlicher Professor fur Koranexegese an der Islamisch-Theologischen Fakultat, die nun Teil der Universitat Sarajevo ist. Bosnien ist ein Land im Zentrum Europas – nur eine Flugstunde von Munchen entfernt – mit einer langen islamischen Tradition inmitten einer slawischen Kultur. Wer Bosnien kennt, wird den Islam in Europa nicht mehr als etwas Exotisches, der europaischen Kultur Fremdes begreifen konnen.
