Der reich illustrierte Begleitband zur Ausstellung wurdigt die Bedeutung von Albrecht Bouts (um 1451/55-1549), der in der Malerei der Sudlichen Niederlande des 15. und 16. Jahrhunderts eine besondere Stellung innehatte. 1475 ubernahm er die bedeutende, auf Darstellungen Christi spezialisierte Werkstatt seines Vaters Dirk Bouts (1415-1475) in Lowen und schuf mehrere neue Typen des “dornengekronten Christus”.
