Antiguo Oriente Volume 22 (2024) presents new research spanning the archaeology, history and textual cultures of the ancient Near East and eastern Mediterranean. This volume includes studies of Egyptian mining activity at Serabit el-Khadem, Hittite administrative terminology, the fortifications of Lachish, state formation and international connectivity in the 10th century BCE, elite funerary contexts in ancient Egypt, socio-political organisation in Tell el-Ghaba, and Nabataean settlement in the Shivta hinterland. Together, these contributions illuminate the complex societies, landscapes and cultural interactions that shaped the ancient world from Egypt and Sinai to Anatolia and the Levant. The volume also includes reviews of recent publications covering Egyptology, biblical studies, archaeology and the social history of antiquity.
