Ausgehend von der Rechtfertigungslehre und den reformatorischen Soli werden theologische Grundmuster der evangelischen Tradition kritisch betrachtet und auf dem aktuellen Hintergrund mit sola pax (allein der Frieden) erganzt. In einem zweiten Teil werden angesichts des Krieges in der Ukraine die Denkmuster der rechtserhaltenden Gewalt aus der Denkschrift der EKD von 2007 und der Weg der Gewaltfreiheit reflektiert und damit ein Beitrag zur Debatte um eine neue Friedensethik versucht. Mit Bibelarbeiten und Predigten schliessen sich Beispiele einer biblisch orientierten Friedenstheologie an. Abgeschlossen wird das Buch mit einer Betrachtung zu 13 Jahren Friedensbeauftragung fur den Rat der EKD. English summary: Russia’s war against Ukraine, which violates international law, challenges the Protestant peace ethics and gives reason to reflect on the foundations of a reformation-influenced peace theology and to think through the various peace-ethical options. Starting from the doctrine of justification and the Soli of the Reformation, the basic theological patterns of the evangelical tradition are critically examined, on the current background supplemented with sola pax (peace alone). In a second part, in view of the war in Ukraine, the patterns of law-preserving violence from the memorandum of the EKD from 2007 and the way of non-violence are reflected and thus a contribution to the debate about a new peace ethic is attempted. Bible studies and sermons are followed as examples of a biblically oriented peace theology. The book concludes with a reflection on 13 years as Peace Commissioner of the EKD Council.
