Ethik der „KI“

How can we use “AI” in an ethically positive way and overcome Big Tech’s dominism – the exploitation of people and nature? Through human rights-based regulation of “AI” and an International Data-Based Systems Agency (IDA) at the UN to enforce these rules.

What is “AI”? An ethical critique shows that “AI” does not possess intelligence. Peter G. Kirchschlaeger proposes “data-based systems (DS)” as an alternative term. This shifts the focus to the ability of these technologies to generate, collect, and analyze large amounts of data and to act based on that data.
The second chapter introduces the Ethics-SAMBA methodology – a model for ethical decision-making.
In the third chapter, the ethical opportunities of DS are identified with the help of ethics of human rights. Among other things, DS can help people break down complexities in ethically relevant areas (e.g., climate change).
The fourth chapter is devoted to the ethical risks of DS, including global inequalities, negative ecological consequences, and violations of human rights to privacy and data protection. The concept of “dominism” serves to contextualize the ethical risks of DS. Dominism refers to the manipulation and domination of people – their thoughts, knowledge, feelings, decisions, communication, and actions – as well as the exploitation of planet Earth, all to maximize the profit and power of a select few multinational technology companies that have taken technological progress in the field of DS hostage.
The fifth chapter focuses on concrete solutions for how to benefit from the ethical opportunities or avoid the ethical risks of DS, including human rights-based DS and the creation of an International Data-Based Systems Agency (IDA) at the UN, modeled after the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
The sixth chapter culminates in the vision that DS can contribute to a humane and sustainable future for humanity and the planet. It is humanity’s responsibility to shape this future by deliberately turning away from dominism.
