Neben meditativen Texten und dem Schaffen von Ikonen hat Josua Boesch eine ungewohnliche Ubersetzung gewagt. Er ubertrug nicht nur als Erster das Johannesevangelium aus dem griechischen Urtext ins Zurichdeutsche. Er versuchte auch, das Geheimnis des gottlichen Gesandten, ein zentrales Thema des Evangeliums, in der Denkweise der Mundart zuganglich zu machen. Denn kein Evangelist hat so viele liturgische Stucke wie Johannes – und gerade in der Liturgie ist die Mundart noch nicht ohne Vorbehalte angekommen. Diese Ubersetzung hilft, Bedenken aus dem Weg zu raumen, gerade weil sie aus der Erfahrung mit vielen Mundart-Gottesdiensten kommt und weil dahinter eine uberraschende Entdeckung steht: Die mitunter herbe und allem Pathetischen abholde Zurcher Mundart beinhaltet eine erfrischend neue Poesie.
