Ce volume comporte le texte des cinq communications presentees dans le cadre des “Conferences d’Etudes Iraniennes Ehsan et Latifeh Yarshater”, organisees par l’Unite Mixte de Recherche “Monde Iranien” en 2003 au College de France a Paris. La thematique principale porte sur les relations entre Grecs, Romains et Iraniens dans l’Antiquite, leurs contacts militaires et diplomatiques ainsi que les images respectives des uns sur les autres. La premiere conference constitue un plaidoyer fervent pour une comprehension universelle de l’histoire ancienne, la deuxieme presente l’immense variete et heterogeneite des relations culturelles entre le monde mediterraneen et l’Iran. Le troisieme texte offre une nouvelle approche des guerres mediques et dans le quatrieme, les perceptions romaines de l’Orient sont comparees a celles des Parthes de l’Occident a l’epoque augusteenne. Dans le dernier chapitre enfin,l’auteur tente de determiner la place de Rum (c.-a-d., la Grece, Rome et Byzance) dans la tradition iranienne.
