The volume includes the proceedings from the conference FOL75 — 75 Years of First-Order Logic held at Humboldt University, Berlin, September 18 – 21, 2003 on the occasion of the anniversary of the publication of Hilbert’s and Ackermann’s Grundzuge der theoretischen Logik. The papers provide analyses of the historical conditions of the shaping of FOL, discuss several modern rivals to it, and show the importance of FOL for interdisciplinary research.
