Cet ouvrage propose de decouvrir les reflexions conjointement menees par des philosophes, des linguistes et des medecins sur les rapports unissant la narration (les recits, les histoires orales ou consignees par ecrit) a l’identite personnelle et collective (culturelle, socio-politique). L’originalite de cette reflexion pluridisciplinaire est la dynamique qu’elle instaure entre des sources theoriques et litteraires diverses (Paul Ricoeur, Alasdair MacIntyre, Georges Canguilhem, Ahamadou Kourouma, Annick Kayitesi, Jean-Luc Petit, Alain Berthoz, Bruno Bettelheim, Tod Chambers…) et l’analyse de situations reelles souvent complexes et douloureuses (le genocide rwandais, l’autisme, la maladie, les soins palliatifs, etc.). Une question relance sans cesse cette dynamique: la narration definit-elle l’identite ou n’en est-elle que la description?
