Texts are studied through various interpretative tools such as social-scientific criticism, literary criticism, and historical criticism. Papers examine how ritual, characterization, interpretation of religious texts, material artifacts, etc. play a role in the identity formation of various Judaic and Christian groups in the Second Temple period.
