Ein Hauch von Rom
Schatze aus den Mannheimer Sammlungen
by Mathilde Grunewald
English summary: This focus of this book is the mixing of cultures in the Roman Empire based on a number of recent archaeological excavations and restorations, especially from the area of the former Roman province of Germania Superior. The gift of Roman city councils of a temple for a Celtic deity as well as other evidence clearly remind us that the Roman Empire was a multicultural world even beyond the evidence from the various soldiers who served in regions far from their homes. This book presents photographs and information, previously unpublicized, that provide glimpses into how the Roman world both borrowed from its Celtic predecessors and was passed onto its Germanic inheritors.
