English summary: Since the ‘religionsgeschichtliche Schule’, the transformation motif in 2 Corinthians 3 has often been traced back to the ancient mysteries. In contrast to this, Frances Back sees in it an analogy to the transformation concept in Philo, in the Liber Antiquitatum Biblicarum and in Joseph and Aseneth. The transformation makes the reception of a revelation by people in the world visible and shows that they are true messengers of God. When Paul applies the transformation motif to himself, he emphasizes that he has received and proclaimed a divine message. The reference to Moses and his transformation into splendor, a reference which has often been found confusing, is given a rational explanation against this backdrop. In concurrence with the subject of the context it helps Paul to prove his legitimacy as an apostle. German description: Seit der religionsgeschichtlichen Schule wird das Verwandlungsmotiv in 2 Kor 3 haufig auf die antiken Mysterien zuruckgefuhrt. Frances Back versteht es im Unterschied dazu in Analogie zum Verwandlungsgedanken bei Philo, im Liber Antiquitatum Biblicarum und bei Joseph und Aseneth: Die Verwandlung macht den Offenbarungsempfang von Menschen in der Welt sichtbar und weist sie als echte Gottesboten aus. Indem Paulus das Verwandlungsmotiv auf sich selbst anwendet, hebt er hervor, dass er eine gottliche Botschaft empfangen hat und verkundigt. Der oft als irritierend empfundene Bezug auf den in Glanz verwandelten Mose findet vor diesem Hintergrund eine sinnvolle Erklarung: Ubereinstimmend mit der Zielsetzung des Kontextes dient er Paulus dazu, seine Legitimitat als Apostel nachzuweisen. Die Verwandlungsthematik kehrt bei Paulus im Zusammenhang der Endzeiterwartung in 1 Kor 15, Phil 3 und Rom 8 wieder. Hier hat das Verwandlungsmotiv jedoch eine andere Bedeutung als in 2 Kor 3. Es erfullt eine ahnliche Funktion wie in der Ascensio Jesaiae, im Slawischen Henoch oder im Syrischen Baruch: Mit dem Verwandlungsgedanken wird zum Ausdruck gebracht, dass die Befreiung von der Verganglichkeit notwendige Voraussetzung fur den Eingang in die himmlische Welt ist.
