The White Slip Ware of Late Bronze Age Cyprus
edited by Vassos Karageorghis
Cypriot White Slip pottery is one of the most widespread ceramics of the late Middle and Late Bronze Ages. Since it has been found to be highly sensitive in chronological respects, it might be most valuable for the establishment of datumlines across the areas of the Eastern Mediterranean. For this reason, Vassos Karageorghis, as his contribution to the Special Research Programme of the Austrian Academy “The Synchronization of Civilizations in the Eastern Mediterranean in the nd Millennium B.C.”, organised an international symposium, which produced some most promising results. 19 papers by renowned scholars deal with different aspects of this particular class of pottery, emphasising technological as weIl as typological and chronological problems….Die zyprische White Slip Keramik der spaten Mittleren und Spaten Bronzezeit in ihrer zeitlich aufeinanderfol-genden Produktion Proto White Slip-, White Slip I-und White Slip II-Ware durfte infolge ihrer weiten Verbreitung und chronologischen Sensibilitat fur die Erstellung von Datumslinien im ostmediterranen Raum hervorragend geeignet sein.
