Der vierte Band der Reihe Sylloge Nummorum Sasanidarum, Paris-Berlin-Wien, umfasst die Regierung des Khusro I. (531579). Seine lange Herrschaft gilt als Hohepunkt der sasanidischen Geschichte. Die numismatische Forschung hat trotzdem diese Periode bisher nur uberblicksartig, aber bislang noch nicht im Detail, untersucht. Auch die Anzahl publizierter Munzen wurde bislang der Bedeutung der Regierung des Khusro I. nicht gerecht. Erstmals kann hier eine detaillierte numismatische Analyse vorgelegt werden, die sich auf eine reprasentative Materialsammlung stutzt. Wenngleich immer noch Lucken im numismatischen Material existieren, so kann man doch gewisse Entwicklungen nunmehr besser verfolgen. Ein besonderer Schwerpunkt liegt auf der Analyse der Munzstattensignaturen, da sich daraus bedeutende Ergebnisse fur die sasanidische Verwaltungs- und Regionalgeschichte gewinnen lassen. Vor allem die Beobachtung numismatischer Parameter ermoglicht zuverlassigere Aussagen in diesem Bereich, im Falle des Khusro I. zwar nicht mehr in stilistischer Hinsicht, dafur bezuglich der patterns of mining (im konkreten Fall betrifft das eine zuverlassige Verortung der materialstarken Munzstattensignatur WH in der Region Khuzistan). Aus dem numismatischen Material lassen sich auch Schlusse uber die Ereignisgeschichte des Sasanidenreichs unter Khusro I. ziehen. Ein eigener Beitrag widmet sich den Metallanalysen. Der Katalog umfasst etwa 880 Munzen aus den Sammlungen in Paris, Berlin und Wien sowie ca. 1200 erganzende Munzfotos und stellt die bislang umfangreichste Dokumentation von Munzen von Khusro I. dar. Typologie, Legenden und Beizeichen werden ausfuhrlich beschrieben und besprochen. Text und Katalog sind auf zwei getrennte Teilbande aufgeteilt.
