~ENG~Combining the analytical approaches of material culture and the theory of science, Rebekka Ladewig deals with disequilibrium and orientation as two complementary elements of an historical epistemology. This study is the first historically in-depth investigation of the field of tacit knowledge conceptualised by Michael Polanyi.

English summary: Orientation is a matter of perspective. Within the framework of historical epistemology, Rebekka Ladewig develops this perspective in theoretical and experimental scenes of dizziness. These cover the 17th and 18th centuries, to the sensory-physiological experimentalisation between 1800 and 1900, right up to the technical milieus of the early 20th century with their instrument-based techniques and the material culture of inducing dizziness. Michael Polanyi’s concept of tacit knowing is the theoretical starting and end point of this analysis, shifting attention from the theory of science to its fringes, to the personal, local and practical conditions of knowledge processes that inherently evade the traditional theory of science. German description: Orientierung ist eine Frage der Perspektive. Im Sinne der historischen Epistemologie entwickelt Rebekka Ladewig diese Perspektive in theoretischen und experimentellen Szenen des Schwindels. Diese umfassen die philosophischen Gedankenexperimente des 17. und 18. Jahrhunderts sowie die sinnesphysiologische Experimentalisierung des Schwindels zwischen 1800 und 1900 bis hin zu den technischen Milieus des fruhen 20. Jahrhunderts mit ihren apparativen Techniken und der materiellen Kultur der Schwindelerzeugung. Michael Polanyis Konzept des impliziten Wissens ist theoretischer Einsatz- und Endpunkt dieser Analyse. Sie verschiebt das Augenmerk von der Theorie der Wissenschaft auf deren Randzonen, auf die personengebundene, lokale und praktische Verfasstheit des Wissensprozesses, die sich dem Fokus der traditionellen Wissenschaftsforschung systematisch entzieht.
