Walter Mostert, Professor fur Fundamentaltheologie an der Universitat Zurich (1977-1995), entfaltet in drei Vorlesungen die Rechtfertigungslehre als Zentrum evangelischer Theologie und evangelischen Glaubens in einem grandiosen geschichtlichen Bogen von den Propheten des Alten Testaments uber die paulinische Theologie, Augustin, Thomas von Aquin, Martin Luther bis in die Gegenwart. Dabei wird deutlich, wie in der Frage nach Rechtfertigung die Urfrage des Menschen nach seinem Heil- und Ganzwerden enthalten ist und wie Rechtfertigung nicht erst durch Heiligung komplettiert werden muss, sondern selbst schon Heiligung ist. Ethik, die als Teil der Rechtfertigungslehre bedacht wird, verliert ihren gesetzlichen Charakter und gewinnt eine evangelische Sprache der Befreiung.
