English summary: This study analyzes the life and writings of the German medievalist Percy E. Schramm (1894-1970). His works, partly inspired by his teacher Aby Warburg, are well known to this day. Die Bindung zerbrach 1935 an Schramms Haltung zum nationalsozialistischen Regime. Wesentliche Schriften von Percy Ernst Schramm waren noch nicht publiziert, doch zeigen sich die Spuren des Bruchs in Schramms spaterem Werk. Diesen Spuren geht David Thimme ebenso nach wie den Hintergrunden, die zu dem Zerwurfnis fuhrten.
