Nouveau choix d’inscriptions grecques

Avec les oeuvres litteraires grecques, les decouvertes de l’archeologie et, pour l’Egypte, les papyrus, les inscriptions grecques constituent une des principales sources sur la civilisation et l’histoire des Grecs de l’Antiquite. Une source qu’il est impossible d’ignorer: ces inscriptions se comptent par dizaines de milliers, ce sont souvent des textes developpes, leur contenu est extremement varie et leur nombre s’accroit chaque annee. Aux etudiants d’Histoire et de Lettres, ainsi qu’aux antiquisants non epigraphistes, le Nouveau choix d’inscriptions grecques publie en 1971 par des enseignants et chercheurs de l’Institut Fernand-Courby de Lyon offre un outil d’initiation completant le Choix d’inscriptions grecques de J. Pouilloux (1960): il reunit des exemples classes des principales categories d’inscriptions et, pour chaque inscription, il fournit le texte grec, sa traduction et un bref commentaire. C’est cet outil d’initiation, epuise depuis longtemps, que Les Belles Lettres reimpriment avec une mise a jour bibliographique. Faisant suite a la reimpression du Choix d’inscriptions grecques de J. Pouilloux (1960), la reedition du Nouveau choix d’inscriptions grecques sera elle-meme suivie de la publication d’un Autre choix d’inscriptions grecques, lui aussi elabore a l’Institut Fernand-Courby, mais selon des principes un peu differents de ceux qui avaient inspire les deux premiers.
