On the occasion of the 2,500th anniversary of the city of Naples, the volume celebrates the 65th anniversary of the Neapolitan Sailing Regattas, held as part of the Games of the 1960 Summer Olympics, as well as the grand “Ball of the Kings” that took place at Palazzo Serra di Cassano on September 3, 1960.

An extraordinary opportunity to present a renewed edition—both in its editorial design and in its documentary and photographic content—of the volume 1960: The Year of the Kings in Naples, which enjoyed great success in 2010.

The photographs and documents from that historical period provide the basis for an important new publishing effort and a major cultural event, not merely celebrating an era, but also aiming to stimulate reflection on the international and cosmopolitan role of Naples, the beating heart of Italy and the Mediterranean.

Francesco Serra di Cassano, a journalist with a degree in political philosophy from the University of Pisa, worked for over twenty years in parliamentary communication. He has served as a marketing consultant for the Festivaletteratura di Mantova and as Head of External Relations for the Fondazione Cinema per Roma. Since 2020, he has been collaborating with the Accademia Vivarium Novum.
