English summary: The exchange of letters between lovers led to an increase in literary forms of communication between literary characters in the German epic of the Late Middle Ages and the Early Modern Period. The conditions of these written exchanges are of particular interest in this context. Letters are written less because of geographical distance, but instead due to prohibitions for reasons of rank, family or religion preventing oral communication. Through the process of repeated writing and response exclusive communities of courtly love can be literally created which, due to the need for secrecy or particular forms of epistolary communication, provide a counterbalance to the plot. This comparative study aims at an analysis of the connection between correspondence and narration in selected epic works of the Late Middle Ages and Early Modern Period. A comprehensive body of poetic letter writing provides the basis for the analyses. German description: Briefwechsel zwischen Liebenden bedeuten in der deutschsprachigen Epik des Spatmittelalters und der fruhen Neuzeit eine Erweiterung literarischer Figurenkommunikationen. Interessant sind hierbei die Bedingungen des schriftlichen Austauschs. Briefe werden weniger aufgrund einer grosseren raumlichen Distanz, sondern vielmehr wegen standischer, familiarer oder gar religioser Verbote, die den mundlichen Austausch unterbinden, geschrieben. Im Prozess des wiederholenden Schreibens und Antwortens lassen sich exklusive Minnegemeinschaften literarisch entwerfen, die aufgrund von Heimlichkeit oder besonderer brieflicher Vermittlungsformen spannungsreich zur Handlung stehen. Die vergleichende Forschungsarbeit hat sich zum Ziel gesetzt, das Verhaltnis von Briefwechseln und Narration in ausgewahlten spatmittelalterlichen und fruhneuzeitlichen epischen Werken zu untersuchen. Grundlage der Analysen bildet eine umfassende Briefpoetik.
