Our era has witnessed the rapid development of research and science as well as the continual addition of new finds due to the great volume of excavations throughout Greece and beyond. New advances in science and computer sceince contribute or seem to contribute to the more precise and quicker processing of archaeological data. The develpment of new arcaheological methods, mainly in prehistoic archaeology, as well as the strong shift in interest toward anthropological and sociological studies has affected archaeological research in general. Given these conditions the classical archaeologist, who specialzes in Greek and Roman sculpture, fells the need to re-examine and re-evaluate his research goals and techniques.
