English summary: Max Weber’s methodological individualism and his vigorous criticism of collective terminology still remain valid. However, the paradigm requires an update. Any serious attempt to defend Weber’s sociology today must face the challenge posed by systems theory. Throughout the 20th century, systems theory generated an incomparable body of elaborate research results when compared with the collectivist experiments that Weber was confronted with. Action theory and systems theory have identified the basic problem of sociology, but that has not resulted in the establishment of clear positions. Thomas Schwinn presents three options for the current discussion of theories: the competition of paradigms, mono-paradigmatic claims and the synthesis of paradigms. In addressing these positions he clarifies Weber’s sociology and develops it further. Jahrhundert unvergleichlich elaboriertere Arbeiten hervorgebracht als jene kollektivistischen Versuche, mit denen es Weber zu tun hatte. Mit Handlungs- und Systemtheorie ist das Grundproblem der Soziologie benannt, das aber nicht zu klaren Fronten gefuhrt hat. Thomas Schwinn legt drei Optionen der aktuellen Theoriediskussion dar: Paradigmenkonkurrenz, monoparadigmatische Anspruche und Paradigmensynthese. In Auseinandersetzung mit diesen Positionen prazisiert er Webers Soziologie und entwickelt sie weiter.
