English summary: Modern philosophy has recognized that while life and history progress in different ways, they still influence each other. The essays of the first volume of the new series Philosophie und Sozialtheorie (PhSt) (Philosophy and Social Theory) address this development and its various dimensions. Starting out with Dilthey and his school in their function as prominent representatives of the philosophy of life and the basic principles of hermeneutics, the volume contains contributions on Schopenhauer, Simmel, Bergson and major Georgian representatives of the philosophy of life (Grigol Robakidze, Aleksandre Janelidze, Zurab Kakabadze). The perspective is broadened by contributions on a historical-philosophical topos (Athens and Jerusalem), the significance of the myth in the philosophy of Hans Blumenberg, the climate theory of the Japanese philosopher Watsuji and on comparison as a key element and one of the central operations within the human mind.
