Est-il legitime de parler d’une “esthetique” au Moyen Age? Comment l’homme medieval articule-t-il son experience du beau et sa conception de la beaute? Y a-t-il un langage commun entre le discours sur la beaute et la beaute des oeuvres? Choisissant le parti de delaisser un concept moderne qui ne s’applique qu’imparfaitement au statut de la beaute au Moyen Age, cet ouvrage presente differents “lieux” historiques, philosophiques et theologiques du discours sur la beaute avant d’en montrer la pertinence dans les uvres monumentales (architecture et sculpture), la musique, les vitraux et les icones. ^D
