Questo volume propone un’analisi critica intorno a due grandi oggetti di studio: le memorie pubbliche e individuali legate alla Seconda guerra mondiale in Europa e quelle connesse alle catastrofi “naturali” che, attraverso la distruzione dei luoghi, spezzano oltre alle vite dei singoli quelle delle comunita. Esperienze diverse che mettono in moto dinamiche di memoria e di oblio e attivano processi complessi, talvolta conflittuali, di elaborazione del ricordo: la costruzione del passato mitico, la dimensione del lutto e la sua trasmissione attraverso le generazioni, la pluralita dei discorsi che riconfigurano gli spazi geografici e politici. Sulla base del proprio percorso di ricerca, a partire da un’ampia riflessione sulle categorie di memoria, l’autrice passa in rassegna i testi che pongono al centro i soggetti sociali in un articolato rapporto tra “basso” e “alto”, tra vissuti individuali e macronarrazioni.
