Why have there been no great female art historians? The answer is complex: there were. At the same time, they could not exist. The texts collected in this volume not only uncover misogynistic mechanisms of exclusion, but also the many ways in which women art historians have decisively shaped art research.
Why Have There Been No Great Women Artists?, fragte Linda Nochlin 1971.
