English summary: In the European arts and crafts museums of the 19th century, numerous galvanoplastic reproductions were installed as copies of historical gold and silver objects. In her comparative study, Daniela C. Maier looks at the role of these reproductions for museum practice and thus works on a hitherto neglected chapter in the history of media and museum.
