Konigtum und Recht nach dem Dynastiewechsel
Das Konigskapitular Pippins des Jungeren

Durch den Dynastiewechsel im Jahr 751 wurde Pippin der Jungere Konig der Franken. Nun stand er vor der grossen Herausforderung, sein frisch gewonnenes Konigtum auszugestalten und mit koniglichem Handeln auszufullen. Sein merowingischer Vorganger Childerich III. durfte ihm in dieser Situation kaum ein Vorbild gewesen sein. Vielmehr musste Pippin einen eigenen Weg finden, die Konigsherrschaft mit koniglichem Handeln zu fullen, indem er Bewahrtes fortsetzte, alte Traditionen wieder aufgriff, umformte und auch neue Formen entwickelte. Diese Studie untersucht anhand des sogenannten Konigskapitulars die Rolle, die dem Recht bei der Ausgestaltung von Pippins Konigtum zukam. Dabei wird deutlich, wie Pippin einerseits konigliche Themen besetzte und andererseits in seinem Handeln christliche Konigstugenden herausstellte.
