English summary: The Jahrbuch fur europaische Uberseegeschichte (Yearbook of European overseas history) provides information on the history of Europe’s relations with non-European cultures, on research currently taking place, debates, controversies, research gaps, as well as, where appropriate, the opportunities for and limitations of political consultancy. Its main focus lies on the diverse and varied interrelations between Europe and countries overseas since ancient times, insofar as they are historically traceable. Of particular interest is the so-called “proliferation of Europeans across the earth” (A. Rein), the establishment of European control, whether directly or indirectly, over large parts of the world and the interconnection of this world through trade and communication during the colonial period. Also of interest are all kinds of interaction with overseas cultures, the slowly crumbling colonial regimes of the 20th century, subsequent attempts to decolonize, and as a consequence, the state of relations between Europe and countries overseas today.
