English summary: The volume presents about 600 mostly unpublished texts, collected in the Roman villas of Stabiae, which tell about the life of the time offering unexpected flashes of the social microcosms of the Campanian “otium” mega-structures. Graffiti such as the long parietal defixio, or the bilingual texts with the Greek and Latin alphabets interchanged even in the same word, the “scholastic” evidence of disciples at different levels of education, as well as the onomastic analysis, offer a complex, but clear, panorama of a reality that intimately matches the archaeological one, which completes and corroborates the interpretation.
