German description: Das Buch erschliesst als zweiter Band der Iberia Pontificia in uber 200 Regesten die Beziehungen des mittelalterlichen Papsttums zum spanischen Bistum Leon. Nach Empfangern gegliedert, erfasst der Band fur die Zeit bis 1198 alle papstlichen Privilegien und Urkunden sowie alle Kontakte zu papstlichen Legaten oder delegierten Richtern im Bereich dieser Diozese. Engere Beziehungen zu den romischen Bischofen sind seit dem Pontifikat Gregors VII. (1073-1085) zu verzeichnen, als die spanischen Reiche verstarkt in den Gesichtskreis des Papsttums traten und dessen gesteigerte Autoritat wiederum in zunehmendem Masse auch von Bischofen der leonesischen Konigsstadt gesucht wurde. Unter Paschalis II. (1099-1118) kam es zur Exemtion des Bistums, d.h. zur direkten Unterstellung unter den Apostolischen Stuhl, die spatestens seit der Zeit Hadrians IV. (1154-1159) unangefochten blieb. Aus dem weiteren Verlauf des 12. Jahrhunderts sind zahlreiche Streitigkeiten hervorzuheben, z.B. mit dem Bischof von Lugo um den Archidiakonat von Triacastela, die zu regem Austausch mit der papstlichen Kurie fuhrten und uber die mittelbar auch kanonistische Rechtsnormen und das romisch-kanonische Prozessrecht verbreitet wurden. Neben der Leoneser Bischofsherrschaft berucksichtigt der Band weitere zehn geistliche Institutionen in Stadt und Diozese, von denen besonders das cluniazensisch gepragte Kloster Sahagun, eines der bedeutendsten Benediktinerkloster der Iberischen Halbinsel, herauszustellen ist. Mit Leon schliesst die Iberia Pontificia nahtlos an den ersten Band zum Nachbarbistum Burgos an.
