The first comprehensive monograph about the bronze sculptor Hubert Gerhard, a desideratum among scholars for many decades. It presents the artist’s life and oeuvre within the context of southern German bronze sculpture around 1600. As Gerhard worked closely with the Florentine sculptor Carlo di Cesare del Palagio for many years, the latter artist is also presented in detail.
