~ENG~The Holy Spirit is central in the Gospel of John. Michael R. Jost compares the Johannine conception of the Holy Spirit with the Daimonion of Socrates in (Middle) Platonic writings, offering a clarification of the Johannine discourse on spirits as well as impulses for the religious-historical classification of the fourth Gospel.
English summary: The Holy Spirit plays a central role in the Gospel of John. Michael R. Jost first describes the Johannine conception of the Holy Spirit and then compares it with ancient Jewish and Hellenistic conceptions of spirit(s). For the first time, he considers in detail the so-called Daimonion of Socrates, revealing new insights into both the religious-historical context of the Johannine pneuma-paraclete and Johannine pneumatology.
