The volume presents two early anti-Donatist writings of Augustine that have survived. In his work De unitate ecclesiae ad catholicos fratres Augustine develops a comprehensive ecclesiology, directed against the Donatist Petilian and based upon biblical exegesis. He reuses arguments taken from his Psalmus contra partem Donati, the only poetic work of Augustine we have today.
