In the 1910s and 1920s, Herwarth Walden and Franz Pfemfert published the German journals Der Sturm and Die Aktion, the most important forums for the art movement of Expressionism in Berlin. The present book analyzes the reception of art, politics and literature from Russia. Furthermore, it describes concepts of self-understanding and national stereotypes in the above periodicals.
