Babel la tete dans le ciel
by S. Anthonioz
The biblical account of Babel (Genesis 11:1-9) has often been interpreted in the historical context of the great Mesopotamian empires. The purpose of this work is to analyze this biblical text in light of various literary motifs common in Mesopotamian literature, particularly that of the head in the sky (Gen 11:4), and to show the function these motifs hold in their different contexts.
English summary: The biblical account of Babel (Genesis 11:1-9) has often been interpreted in the historical context of the great Mesopotamian empires. The purpose of this work is to analyze this biblical text in light of various literary motifs common in Mesopotamian literature, particularly that of the head in the sky (Gen 11:4), and to show the function these motifs hold in their different contexts.
