This volume reports on a survey (1986-1992) around Qasr Ibrim, revealing Meroitic presence from the early 1st century BC. It includes maps, plans, photos, and drawings of structures and artifacts, with Penelope Wilson analyzing inscriptions and symbols on the road and other artifacts.

This volume presents the results of a survey, carried out between 1986 and 1992 in the territory immediately adjacent to the fortress of Qasr Ibrim. It demonstrates the presence of a Meroitic population in the area of Ibrim from at least the early 1st century BC. The volume is illustrated with maps and plans, as well as photographs and line drawings of the many structures and artifacts located during the course of the survey. Penelope Wilson discusses the inscriptions and symbols incised in the roadway to Qasr Ibrim, together with other inscribed artefacts.
