Dieser Band rückt ästhetische Praxis als ein Handeln in den Fokus, das seine Voraussetzungen und Grenzen im Vollzug reflektiert. Eine solche Praxis befragt ihre Begriffe und Verfahren im Hinblick auf die historischen, politischen und epistemischen Verflechtungen, denen sie entstammt. Als politische Praxis stellt sie sich Ambivalenzen und sucht die Kontroverse. Zwischen unterschiedlichen Ästhetiken situiert, adressiert sie Machtverhältnisse und greift verändernd in Geschichtsschreibung und Gegenwart ein. Die Beiträge untersuchen aus transdisziplinärer Sicht das Kritische in und durch ästhetische Praxis. Zugleich verhandeln sie die Begriffe von Ästhetik und Kritik neu.
Martina Groß ist Professorin für Theaterwissenschaft an der Universität Hildesheim. Sie forscht zu transnationaler Theatergeschichtsschreibung, Übersetzung als ästhetischer Praxis, Erinnerungskulturen, Archiv und Geschlecht.
Fiona McGovern ist akademische Oberrätin a. Z. am Kunstgeschichtlichen Institut der Ruhr-Universität Bochum. Zuvor war sie Juniorprofessorin für Kuratorische Praxis und Kunstvermittlung an der Universität Hildesheim.
