Said Nursi is considered a traditional scholar of the modern age. His main goal as a journalist was spawned of religious motivation and was paired with scientific advances of faith that stood up against lack of knowledge, poverty and disunity among the population. When the incompatibility between religion and science was postulated and, in parts, ideologically represented, Said Nursi endeavoured to resolve this tension. He confronted the controversial challenges of the modern age and provided answers that remain far-sighted for the development of Islam in Turkey today. This volume offers an insight into the work of the influential Turkish-Kurdish scholar, examining the core points of his thinking.
