English Summary: Within a few years Henry I (the Vogler), who was crowned king in 919 by Franconians and Saxons, also made Bavaria, Swabia and Lorraine his allies. He fended off the Hungarians threatening his empire and thus laid the foundations of the rule of his son Otto the Great. He found his final resting place in Quedlinburg (now World Heritage City), which was first mentioned in a document of Henry I in 922. – Power relations and structures in the late 9th and 10th centuries in Eastern Franconia – How did Henry I (the Vogler) become king of the East Franconian Empire, how did he remain king, and what became of his rule later?
