La Porta di Istar di Babilonia

La Porta di Itar, riccamente decorata, costituiva uno degli accessi all’antica citta di Babilonia e fu fatta costruire dal re babilonese Nabucodonosor II nel VI sec. a.C. Durante l’annuale Festa di Capodanno le processioni con le divinita attraversavano questa porta per giungere nel centro della citta. Secondo quali procedure i babilonesi realizzarono questi mattoni brillanti? Quale significato avevano gli animali divini (leone, drago e toro)? Come e perche giunsero proprio a Berlino i frammenti della Porta per esservi ricomposti come li vediamo oggi? In quale misura questa ricostruzione rispecchia lo stato originale?
