Substanzielles Christentum
Soziotheologische Erkundungen
by Gerhard Wegner
English summary: Indifference against church and christian religion is still growing as well as the inability to understand christian language as symbolic. It’s no longer possible to counter that development by merely functional perspectives and the weakening of normative aspects. What is needed is a new concentration on substantial christianity: on the inspiring and nourishing characteristics of faith. It’s in the productive encounter of sociology and theology where one can discover new ways. The book draws on respective experiences back in the sixties and looks forward into new forms of a transformed and transforming christian living. One can share living in the powerfield of the spirit or discuss poverty in theological discourse. The book closes by some ideas of how to reform the church.
