Jahrhundert hinein.

The overcoming of violent conflicts and the gender-specific characteristics that often accompany them have rarely been addressed in historical research to date. This volume demonstrates the mutability of the concept and term of reconciliation and the associated norms and values from a historical perspective, taking gender into account. It examines the influence of various gender-specific patterns of interpretation and action on ideas and practices of reconciliation. The contributions in this volume address both the individual and collective levels of reconciliation in countries in Europe, Latin America, Africa, the Middle East and the USA from around 1850 to the late 20th century.
