On lui doit une theorie de la Substance radicale – Dieu est la seule substance, le seul etre, le monde est l’ensemble des modes des deux seuls attributs divins que nous pouvons connaitre: etendue et pensee – qui l’a fait passer pour pantheiste… Comment Spinoza, fils de marchand d’Amsterdam, est-il devenu philosophe? Comment a-t-il fait de la philosophie avec ceux qui le desiraient? Comment en a-t-il fait contre ceux qui l’en empechaient? Et surtout comment en a-t-il fait avec ceux qui n’en faisaient pas? Telles sont les questions que l’on a voulu traiter ici, comme pour entrouvrir son oeuvre.
